This is a great website to check the average wind speeds and directions for each part of the ocean. You can check by each time of the year what is mostly to expect. Now we do not have to buy all those books anymore... 

This is in my opinion the best site for weather prediction. They also offer a great deal for the Iridium Go for getting weather reports offshore though satellite.
